Martial Arts can help children in many different ways. However, at Ko Martial Arts, we take it a step further by training our instructors and creating curriculum that is designed to help each student become the best version of themselves. Our class sizes are smaller than the average martial arts school because we believe in an individualized approach with each student. We strive to connect with each student so we can help them become, confident, respectful, hardworking and all around good people.
Students are required to take two classes a week. This ensures that the student is learning and retaining the skills and information in our curriculum. Students are limited to two classes a week, unless they are making up a missed class or are a part of our invite only program, Black Belt Club.
No, at KOMA Taekwondo we have a flexible schedule. You can come to any class time for your program, as long as you attend two classes a week.
All classes are 45 minutes long. Our classes are specifically designed to keep our students engaged, and constantly learning the curriculum while being respectful of your time and schedule.
We start students as young as 4 years old. We find that that is the prime age to start students for them to be the most successful in their martial arts journey.
Taekwondo and Karate are both martial arts, however the main difference is their origins and types of strikes. Taekwondo originates in Korea and heavily focuses on kicks. Karate originates in Japan and focuses on hand strikes. At KOMA Taekwondo we teach Taekwondo. To learn more about the differences between Taekwondo and Karate, read our blog post about it here.
At KOMA Taekwondon the youngest you can become a Black Belt is 10 years old. Students who join at age 7 or older will start as white belts and it will take approximately 3 years (or 10 belts) to earn their first black belt.
Students 4-6 will first join our Super Tykes program, which will help them become comfortable with classes, and familiar with basic techniques. These students will have a bit longer time until they can earn their black belt. Once they turn 7 years old, they will be moved up to white belt and from there will have approximately 3 years (or 10 belts) to earn their first black belt.
Yes! We take students with all types of special needs. We find that most of our students with special needs can participate in our group classes, but we also offer private lessons to those students who aren’t ready to be in a group class. If you have any concerns with a group setting, please let us know before the intro lesson and we can discuss options to create the best experience.
No one is ever too old to start Taekwondo. We have students of all ages at KOMA Taekwondo. All of our classes are split by age, so you’ll be in class with other adults. These classes usually take place during the day, before 4:00 pm.
We have many different payment and pricing options to fit everyone. Check out this video to learn more about our fees. Also, we find it’s easier for our customers to understand in person and we go over all the options during your first free lesson. Schedule your free lesson here.
